Zug - City, lake and mountain

This little town is situated in German-speaking Switzerland, at the north-eastern edge of the lake "Zuger See". It stretches over gardens and orchards at the wooded foothills of the mountain "Zugerberg". Zug's privileged geographical situation in the heart of Switzerland makes this town an ideal starting point for cultural and touristy excursions in central Switzerland, as well as to discover the Alps. A walk right on the shores of the lake offers a marvellous view of the mountains of central Switzerland (Pilatus, Bürgenstock, Stanserhorn) and of the Alps of Bern (Jungfrau, Blümlisalp, Finsteraarhorn); not to forget the bluish water of the lake and the green hills, which are dominated by the mountain Rigi and the charm of the old part of the town... So many trumps to tempt the visitor! This charming place is also known for being one of the most peaceful towns in Switzerland, and is therefore an idyllic and safe surrounding to learn German - between lake and mountains

LANGUAGE COURSES

Our aim

Our main goal is to awake students' interest in learning a language. In Fact, we feel that the more concerned our students feel the better they will learn. We achieve this, first of all, by creating a young and dynamic atmosphere in our lessons with topics that really motivate the students. Moreover, parallel activities complement the study work wonderfully by familiarising students with the spontaneous use of what they learned in the classroom. The programme is adapted to all levels and allows each student to improve his grammatical skills and develop his communication skills alongside his understanding of written and spoken French. Our principal strategy involves four important stages : discovery, improvement, revision and progression.

Placement of students in class-levels

On arrival, the participants take a test which will allow them to be placed in relevant groups with corresponding language levels. Each student will, therefore study in a class corresponding to his own level in the foreign language.

Teaching method

The teaching staff are young and dynamic native speakers. They set out to create a relaxed, amusing and motivating atmosphere with lesson themes our students can relate to. During the extracurricular activities, they continue to encourage their students to use the language being studied.

Zug Course Centre

Our partner school is located in the prestigious college «St. Michel», which is just a few steps away from the city centre and less than 10 minutes on foot from the waterfront of the Zuger See. The building and equipment of the course centre are on a property of almost 2 hectares and offers an excellent infrastructure: 8 class rooms, one big study room, a theatre, a game room (equipped with flippers, table hockey, billiard/pool, table football, video games) and several study rooms with television and DVD-player. Apart from that, the course centre offers various sports equipment, such as a gymnasium, a soccer ground, some basketball, handball and volleyball grounds, as well as ping-pong tables. Moreover, a computer room is available, where our students have access to the Internet free of charge.

The students are accommodated in comfortable triple or quadruple rooms. All the rooms have sinks; shared showers and toilets can be found on each floor. The accommodation includes full board, with all the meals taken in the huge dining room of the school. For the welfare and the security of the students, we have our supervisors of the school living on the campus. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Supervision

We want the supervision of our students to be efficient and discreet so that everybody can get the most out of their stay in complete security. Our staff take particular care to supervise all our students in accordance with their age. From the first day to the last, we are there, ready to offer the help required by each student and to provide suitable security. In the ESL residences, 24-hour physical surveillance is carried out on foot. Emergency numbers are reachable round the clock in every location.

Pocket money service
Operating like a mini-bank, our pocket money service is open every day to students who wish to pay in or withdraw money.

Web access & telephones
There's nothing like a quick e-mail for keeping in touch with your family. That's why all our course centres are equipped so that our students can exchange e-mails with their friends and families. Even the Alpine locations are in areas with good mobile phone coverage. Furthermore, all the residential centres have phonecard telephone booths for the students' use.
